Everfi: Workplace Solutions
Designing visual assets for a workplace solution course used by over 2 million individuals to promote a positive workplace culture
Company: Everfi
Role: Illustrator, Character Designer, Background Designer
Context: Everfi equips over 1000 organizations (A&E Networks, Zara, MLB, MoMA and more) to build better workplace cultures through best-in-class courses. Out of the 6 different categories offered, I had the opportunity to work with our 1st in-house motion graphics team to design characters and backgrounds for our course focused on preventing harassment & discrimination.
Goal: Design characters that align with our customers’ needs of representation as well as backgrounds and props to be used for animation.
Impact
• Supporting nearly 2 million individuals across 30 different topic areas, spanning culture and compliance
• 97% of learners are motivated to promote a positive workplace culture after taking our flagship PHD course
The Importance of Representation
At Everfi, we took care to really hone in on DEI for character designs- it was important for us to make sure that learners would feel represented when taking our courses. Throughout research and sketch phases, we followed a strict DEI checklist that ensured all characters varied in areas such as: Race, ethnicity, height, body diversity, sexuality & disabilities in order to represent real-life people who make up our workplace
DEI character record
After establishing basic requirements for each character, I created a moodboard of how I might visualize the character. Looking at overall facial features, build and clothing choices, I would then begin sketching out designs to discuss with the team.
Shown above: sketches of the main character for the first video in the course: The Power of Bystanders. This course focused on being aware of interactions within the workplace and learning to take action as a bystander if/when witnessing harassment in the workplace.

From Storyboards to Final Artwork
With previous experience as an art director and animator, I took the storyboards/animatics to create final scenes that could then be used by our animators.
